For Keeps?

To keep or to trash?

That is my current question regarding my wedding dress. Since the moment I put on my dress and knew it was "the one" I have been thinking about trashing it. Just the thought of jumping into an ocean or running through a field in my lovely gown makes me so excited. Keith has agreed to join me, and we'll have the session photographed. I didn't have a bridal session before the wedding, so I'm hoping by trashing the dress I'll get some beautiful photographs!

BUT, lately I've been rethinking things a little. Do I really want to ruin my wedding dress? Won't I want to show my children what I wore and maybe even have my daughter wear it for her big day? (Do people even do this anymore?)

If I do decide to trash it, I'd like to do it at Folly Beach near Morris Island Lighthouse

Or at Chimney Rock Park in North Carolina

What do you guys think? Has anyone ever trashed their dress, and if so, do you regret it? Are you totally pleased with your decision? Helllllp... :o)

That's a hard one. I think the pictures are always really cool, but I don't think I could bear to actually ruin my dress.

P.S. If you did the Chimney Rock park, you really wouldn't have to TRASH it would you? It looks like you could get some gorgeous pictures there.

I don't think I could ever trash my wedding dress! I love it too much! It's just hanging in my closet, but one day I hope that maybe if I have a daughter she can use pieces of my dress for her own dress or something. My dress has some amazing beading, and I just can't imagine trashing it! But I do admit I love the pictures of all the Trash the Dress sessions I've seen! Plus the idea of a photoshoot at the beach! Have a great day!

I thought about getting mine shortened and dyed... so I could wear it again... not sure it that'll ever happen. I tried my mom's dress on and hated it, so I doubt my daughter will want to wear mine. I'm not sure what I'd do, I love the pictures though, esp. the paint one!

I think it would be SO FUN and SUCH a blast to trash it! Your dress isn't going to last forever anyway, so why not have fun with it while you do? Hehe. Have fun, and I choose the beach near the lighthouse, for sure!

even though my dress is just sitting in the preservation kit I just couldn't do it!! It means to much to me I think. It would be fun though but my opinion is to keep it : )

While I it would be phenomenal to have a trash the dress session...I just don't think I could do it. Mine is currently preserved in its box at the top of a closet!

Thanks for following! I'm following you now too!

I kinda want to trash my dress, but I love it and I want to show my daughter it. It can become a family heirloom! I think if I tashed the test I would buy a cheap dress from a 2nd hand store.

That's a toughie. I don't think i'd ever trash my dress (more than it is not.. red wine stains, nice) buttttt i totally like the idea and it makes the coolest pictures.

I've thought the same things! I loved my dress ( and still do), but it isn't much good after the big day. I'd hate to pressure my future daughters into wearing it...if they didn't want to, ya know? I say, GO FOR IT!

I've been pretty torn about that, too. My dress didn't cost a lot, so it's not like I'd be out a lot of money if I ruined it--but if I ruin it, I wouldn't be able to pass it along if I ever have a daughter. But then, it'd be really cool to have the pictures, especially since our wedding pictures got ruined at the ceremony by the photographer, so we don't have any professional pictures from the actual ceremony. We have some photographers around here that have done some really cool Trash the Dress shoots, but I'm so torn!

I'm no help. Ha. I do want to add, though, that I think there are some "Trash the Dress" shoots that don't actually ruin the dress and it's still in good condition--though it does limit your options!

I love the pictures too, but I'm just way too sentimental to actually do the trashing! Even though she might not want to actually wear it, I love the idea of having it for my daughter to see and have as an option! Both places look gorgeous...although it would be tough to climb to chimney rock in it...maybe you could somehow change into it up top and get some gorgeous photos without trashing....best of both worlds! :)

I love the pictures but I really think I"d have trouble trashing my dress! What if you bought like a cheapo one at davids bridal or something?

I've never commented on a blog before! haha. Lindsey, our 15 yr anniversary is coming up and for almost as long, my dress has been sitting in a preservation box in my closet! I can't take it out and them guarantee it against yellowing, etc. so it's not like Erin can ever really play with it or try it on. And chances are slim she'll want to wear it...gown shopping is such a big part of the planning and excitement in my opinion. I say go for it! If you're a picture girl, I think you'd LOVE the photos you'd capture!! Fits your sweet, unique personality! :-)
