Plans Shmans

(Disclaimer - This post may be considered a rant. Consider yourself warned.)

I am well aware that things hardly ever go as planned. However, I did not expect my Louisiana trip plans to completely crash and burn. Let me explain...

I planned on arriving in New Orleans on Monday, June 20th at 3:30pm. Instead my 11am flight out of Charleston was canceled. I hitched a ride with my hubby to Atlanta planning to make my rescheduled 4pm flight. Instead I missed that one and ended up parking my booty at the gate for my 8pm flight about 3 hours early. I arrived in New Orleans around 9pm.

I planned on setting up my conference booth a few minutes before 1pm. Instead I was yelled at from across the room by a man that very well may be kin to the Grinch. Apparently I was in the ballroom too soon and was ordered to "get out now." I ended up in my hotel room crying (like a champ). I then dragged myself back to the ballroom and quickly set up my booth. Luckily, a very nice man witnessed what had happened and was so unbelievably kind and apologetic. He also set up my booth with internet and electricity -- at no charge. Seriously, this nice man was heaven sent, and totally made my day.

I planned on having dinner with some great friends on Thursday night. Instead, I suffered some sort of stomach malfunction Thursday during lunch. My Mom is a fantastic cook, but her stuffed bell pepper and my tummy didn't mix. I was in excruciating pain from Thursday at lunch until Sunday...and I was unable to eat anything solid until Friday night.

I planned on attending the New Kids on the Block/Backstreet Boys concert with a handful of my best friends. Instead, I gave my ticket back and spent the night in pain thanks to my stomach.

I planned on flying back to Charleston on Sunday afternoon. Instead I booked a 6am Saturday flight  out of Louisiana and headed back to my South Carolina home. I spent the day laying on the couch completely zoned out.

And last but certainly not least...

I planned on taking my Maw-Maw and Dad out to lunch on Friday. Instead, I ended up at a local hospital in ICU. My Dad has been an alcoholic for as long as I can remember...and now it looks like he may never recover. He is suffering from liver failure and things aren't looking good. I had hope until I saw him. He is 47 years old but resembles a 60+ year old man. I am sad that my father wasn't able to acknowledge that he is an alcoholic...I'm sad that he was never ever to get help. Most of all, I am angry that he has done this to himself. My dad is an amazing man when he is sober, and mean as can be when he is drunk. Let's just say he wasn't sober often...I don't know what's going to happen, but if you guys would please say a prayer for my dad, my Maw-Maw (his mother), my sisters, and our family I would sincerely appreciate it.

Needless to say this trip was the worst one I have ever experienced. As someone who is always making lists and plans, I think I'm going to take a break for a little while.

Hello, Louisiana!

I'll be back soon with recaps of my trip and a crazy story about my airport adventure. :)

Georgia on My Mind

* Y'all, this whole moving thing is becoming more real each and every day! It's so overwhelming to think that in less than two months my husband and I will have moved ourselves, our cats, and our stuff to Georgia.

Woah baby.

via

Last week, I told my employer that I was moving and I did not expect to respond the way that I did. I cried like a baby. My boss/supervisors/co-workers have been a part of my life for two years and it's going to be tough to say good-bye. I also had a Realtor come by the house on Tuesday so that we could talk about property management...what reality check. We. Are. Moving. Wow...

* While we haven't found anyone to rent our house yet, we did find a place to live in ATL! Until we sell our house we will be renting the cutest little apartment! It's quite spacious, has a fire place, vaulted ceilings, and a balcony...can we say YES!!! Not to mention that the community offers free tennis lessons AND has direct access to the Chattahoochee River...need I say more?? (Those lessons will come in handy to help me scratch # 15 off of the list!) I am so pumped about our new home and can't wait to move in and decorate! :)

* For a few weeks Keith and I have talked about freeing our turtles. These little guys have been in our lives for 2 years but lately we've felt that they were just miserable. The tank was not anywhere near large enough, and now that we are moving we definitely needed to make a decision...

Besides the fact that I sound like a 5 year old (and that KC kept telling me to back up) I really love this video of our turtles. (Don't you just love the half sunken sign??) The last one did eventually dive into the pond. :) This pond is in my bro/sis-in-law's neighborhood and is supposedly "safe", but I did see this sign...

Not sure how I feel about that! According to KC, this sign is just a precautionary measure. Allegedly.

* That's all I've got for now with my ATL updates. My sis and I are meeting Keith for the 4th of July so that we can explore our new home, catch a ballgame (I think I am becoming a bit of a Braves fan), and visit the apartment complex.

Happy Thursday!

Impossible Means Nothing to Me

-- Play Me --

This road is anything but simple
Twisted like a riddle I've seen high and I've seen low
So loud, the voices of all my doubts
Telling me to give up, to pack up and leave town

Even so, I had to believe
Impossible means nothing to me...

Cat's Out of the Bag

Well, it's official, and I can finally tell all of you lovely bloggers my little secret/what's been keeping me so busy. :)

We are moving to Atlanta!

My amazing hubby has been doing so well at work that they have offered him a territory!!!! I am so unbelievably thankful for this news! Do you guys know what this means?!? It means no more weekdays being apart! It means a new chapter in our lives in a new (bigger) city! AH I am just so stinking excited.

I've never been secretive about my dislike for Charleston, and now that we are finally leaving I am feeling a mix of emotions. Of course I am happy, but I am also going to be leaving behind many things that were starting to feel like home. (But that's a story for later) I know from experience that the grass is definitely not always greener on the other side, but I am anxious to see what lies ahead in our new city!

Anywho...that's what's been going on! We will be moving at the end of July and have beacoup to accomplish before this happens. (Packing, finding renters for our house, finding a new place to live, etc.) but I will try to keep up my blog and document this journey. You really never know what's going to happen next in this crazy thing called life. :)

A Bit of Neglecting...

 via

This title of this post is most definitely stating the obvious.

I have been neglecting my blog.

But it's not because I want to, it's because there is so much happening in my life right now! I can't say anything yet, but I will be back to posting regular soon. (I hope!) I'm still chugging slowly along on my healthy/fitness journey and will keep posting as much as possible. I can't wait until I can spill the beans about what's going on right now...it's so exciting!!! :)

I hope all of you lovely readers are having a great day!

Belated Weekend Wrap-Up

For Memorial Day Weekend I spent my time in Atlanta with my sweet husband. He has been there every week, Monday through Friday,  for work. It was unbelievably pleasant to be with him for 3+ days in a row. It kills me that I am home now without him, but luckily I will see him Friday after work. Here are a few pictures to recap our time together.

My handsome man getting ready for work. :) I loved watching him in the mornings...he's so cute! :)))

We went to a Braves game and had a fantastic time!

What does a Yankee fan wear to a Braves game?

My handy dandy Red Sox suck shirt, of course!

Before the game. He hates taking pictures. I love it. Bahahahha look at his face!
I. love. baseball. *sigh*

My father/mother-in-law and Keith!

Victory!!! Braves won 2-1 in an exciting game!

We also went to the Aquarium!

Penguins!!!

I <3 penguins.

My sweet with the albino alligator...who is whiter?

ATL! :)

 Exhausted after a long day.

Atlanta...I love you!

I was in Atlanta from Friday until Tuesday (I took an extra 2 days off of work) and there was so much more to it than what these pictures show. The quality time that I was able to spend with my husband was priceless, and I cannot wait until things with his work change so that we can finally be together for more than just the weekends.

Happy Thursday sweet readers! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
