Miscellany Monday

* I am so thankful that Thanksgiving week is finally here, and in a few days I will be back home in Louisiana! I will get to see my friends and family, as well as eat some yummy Cajun food. Praise God!

* Have you ever felt like your head was going to just spin off of your body? Well, that's the current state I'm in. Between my full-time job, being a full-time student, editing weddings, packing for Louisiana, and everything else, I feel like I'm going crazy. It's hard to accept the fact that I'm not in control, so I need to stop acting like it. God can handle this, and I just need to give it to all to Him!

* Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for reaching out to me and correcting my grammar. Your comment was left on a post that actually only had a picture, so I am a bit confused. While I appreciate your concern, next time, leave your name. "Anonymous" makes you sound sketchy, and quite frankly it makes me think bad things about you.

Sincerely,
Keith and me

* That's all I've got for today. I hope you guys have a great Monday!

One Step Closer

Two weeks ago, Keith and I attended a law school forum in Atlanta, GA. (I know, I'm slack for not posting sooner. Sorryyyy.) We were only able to stay for a few hours, but we got to talk to most of my top school reps. I know that I shouldn't judge a school solely by my experience with the representative, but thanks to a few pleasant and not so pleasant experiences, it's going to be tough not to. I mean, the schools obviously trust their reps enough to have them as the face of their program. So while I will not making any drastic decisions due to a rep, it will definitely weigh in.

LSU Law
An LSU alumni told us we'd probably be divorced by the end of law school. Apparently, everyone in her class that was married has split. We left their table hand in hand, and very discouraged. Needless to say, LSU dropped to the lower have of my list.

U of Alabama Law
After the beating we received from LSU, we headed on over to Alabama's table, and at this point we were only looking for a second opinion about marriage and law school. The rep told us that she went through law school married, and it made their marriage stronger. Also, said they have a great spousal support system. We were thankful to speak with this kind lady, and felt better about marriage + law school.

Regent Law
Spoke with Director of Admissions and she was absolutely amazing! I'd receive a 15% discount for being a Regent graduate and she shared with us about her family's experience. One of the greatest things about Regent Law is that A) They are a Christian law school, and each class begins with prayer, and B) They just opened the Center for Global Justice, which focuses on human trafficking. This would be absolutely perfect since this is where my heart is at. We left Regent's table encouraged and excited about the possibility of attending.

U of Texas Law
Great rep! He spoke about campus life and about the law school community's strong bond. We also talked about Texas football and the athletic package offered to students. :o) He told me that I was more than my GPA and LSAT score, and to work on my personal statement. This was so encouraging! GO LONGHORNS! (i love texas) :o)

U of North Carolina Law
Rep was extremely intimidating, and I a was a bit scared to speak. Told the girl next to me that they have 3,000+ applicants for only 250 seats, so they can be as selective as they want. Ooookay.

Roger Williams
Reps were super friendly and answered all of my questions about their public interest programs. Talked about their location and how it has a colonial feel. They were very welcoming.

Chicago
Oh, Chicago. I did not know that this school was a prestigious Top 5 school. I also didn't know that this lady was related to the Wicked Witch of the West. Had I known these two facts I wouldn't have looked twice. Unfortunately, we stopped and talked to an awful woman. She was beyond rude, and even if I was a 4.0/180 student, I would NEVER give Chicago the time of day.

Brooklyn, Emory, Georgia State, and Charle
ston Law all had mucho people at their tables whenever we passed by, so we were unable to speak with a rep. We did pick up information for each school though. I am especially bummed about not speaking to Brooklyn's rep, but hopefully Keith and I can make it to NYC in March and I can have a one-on-one meeting. :o)

Overall we had a really great experience, and I am very happy that we attended. Choosing a law school will depend on quite a few factors. Obviously, the whole getting accepted factor is key. After that, the things Keith and I are looking at are location, a good church, job placement rate, average indebtedness, scholarships offered...just to name a few.

I am super excited about this journey and am so motivated to study hard so that I can rock the LSAT! High LSAT score = acceptance to law school/scholarship $$ = a law degree = living the calling on my life & kicking human traffickers' butts!!!!

Law school, here we come!

Spread the Word

I typically do not post twice in one day, but I feel that I must. Please head over to Sarah's blog, Bon Mot and watch the video, and read her post.

She wrote about something that rocks me to the core. This "something" is sex slavery. Not only is it happening all over the world, but in our own backyard.

It amazes me that most people don't even know that slavery still exists. I am well aware that sexual slavery and human trafficking is happening, but I had no idea that Atlanta, Georgia is 10th in the world for child sex trafficking.

If you want to know more, check out Sarah's blog, or visit the websites below.

It's Official

When I was a kid, I adored Princess Diana. For starters, she was a princess! She always seemed so kind and loving whenever I saw her on TV. She had two little boys, and she looked like an amazing mother. I had dreamed of one day meeting her and getting to visit the palace. (Hey, a kid can dream!)

via

I remember staying up very late with my Mom and watching the news the night Princess Diana was killed. I was 11 years old, and I remember thinking that the world was a terrible place. I would talk more about Princess Diana being taken too soon, but this post is not meant to be sad. Nope, it's a wonderfully happy post!

Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting married!

via

"The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton. The wedding will take place in the Spring or Summer of 2011, in London."

"Prince William has informed The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton's father. Following the marriage, the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force." via

I am seriously so happy for these two! Kate seems so lovely and kind, and I am happy that this is the woman the Prince will be marrying. I'm going out on a limb here, but she kind of reminds me of Princess Diana in the way she carries herself.

I can't wait to watch this beautiful couple wed next year! :o)

Some of my favorite cards are:The inside says "Every good gift is from above" and I really just love the simple beauty of it all. It gives the glory to God, and is a subtle remind of the reason for the season. :o) Not to mention that you can put three pictures on the front! (Found here)

Here's another card that you can use multiple pictures. Even though I never thought I'd like a black Christmas card, I really love the design and think it looks so elegant. (Found here)

This card is so playful and I really love the colors! (Found here)

I love the multi-picture design of this card, but what I love even more is that 10% of all proceeds benefit the American Lung Association. YAY! (Found here)

This card really has it all! I love the colors, the multiple picture option, and it's absolutely adorable! (Found here)

Oh Happy (Mon)Day!

* Keith and I had a truly fantastic weekend! We left Charleston at 6am Saturday morning and headed to Atlanta for the Law School Forum. We arrived at the forum around 11:30am and stayed there for about 2.5 hours. I really didn't know what to expect, but there were a ton of potential law students there and it was pretty crowded. Keith and I got a lot of information from my top law schools and were able to speak with a few reps at their tables. We had good, bad, and funny experiences, and tomorrow’s post will be all about the forum and our new perspectives on my top schools. :o)

On Sunday we were able to get an extra hour of sleep thanks to daylight savings (woop woop!) and got ready for church. We headed over to Andy Stanley’s church, North Point for their last Sunday morning service. All I have to say is “wow”. This church is completely amazing. Without getting into too much detail, I have been struggling lately and being at North Point was a gigantic breath of fresh air. I was moved to tears during worship, and really felt God comfort me. I felt like I was sitting in His hands, and that everything is going to be more than okay. The message was called “Game Plan”, and was focused on careers. (I’d say it was a coincidence that Keith and I were there for this message, but God definitely planned this one, and we couldn't help but smile.) Andy spoke about being content in our current situations, and told us that often times, new opportunities arise through our current opportunities. He also asked a question that convicted Keith and I. He said “Are you preparing for the next opportunity or just waiting for it? So. powerful.

I feel completely rejuvenated, and Keith and I have set our “Game Plan” into action. This weekend was such a blessing and I am super excited to see what happens. Praise Him!

* Only 16 more days until Keith and I are back in the bayou (AKA Louisiana) for Thanksgiving! YAY! I can’t wait to see my family and friends!

via

* My trash the dress session was planned for October 30th, but unfortunately did not happen. I was so upset about this, but my awesome photographer, Kristen Pace, allowed us to reschedule! We will now be trashing my dress in April in celebration of our first year of marriage! (Our anniversary is on March 7th) I am hoping to do a successful cartwheel...in my wedding dress and a jumping shot. Lol should be interesting...

1,2

* Keith and I have been talking a lot lately about our current lifestyle, and how we would both like to be healthier. We have decided to start working out together in the mornings before work. (6am-7am) While this is going to be very challenging, we’re both excited to start our day early with each other, and to get in better shape!

via

* Beginning in December, I will begin my LSAT study schedule of 15 hours per week. In addition to my regular homework, this is going to be really tough. But there is nothing I can't do with God on my side, so I'm reading to tackle this challenge! Depending on how well I do on my practice tests, I will most likely be enrolling in a prep course in February. I’ll be taking the LSAT in June 2011, but since my GPA isn’t amazing, I will definitely need a strong score to be admitted to my top schools and to qualify for scholarships. This is going to be quite a journey, and I’m so glad I get to share it with all of you! Prayers are always appreciated!

Have a great Monday, lovelies!

Girl Divided

It is no secret that I have been homesick for quite some time now. I grew up in Louisiana, and I took living there for granted. I know it doesn't make sense to a lot of people, especially those who have never visited, but from the food to the people, it just doesn't get any better than Louisiana.

The one problem I am running into is this:

I am starting to become an LSU Tiger Fan.

1, 2, 3, 4

There's nothing necessarily wrong with LSU, but I'm a Texas fan, and these two really don't mix. One of the main reasons that I'm falling in love with the purple and gold is that it's been making my heart happy. Anytime I see someone in SC with LSU paraphernalia I'm automatically reminded of home, and it makes me smile. :o)

So what's a girl to do?

via

How about buy one of these.

:o)

Have a great weekend lovelies!

Peach Fuzz, Anyone?

On Tuesday night when I was getting ready for bed, I decided that I no longer wanted any peach fuzz on my chin. I know that everyone has this fuzz on their face, but lately I've been noticing mine a lot. And if I notice it, then maybe other people notice it, too. And who in the world wants to be known as the girl with the peach fuzz on her chin!??!

Okay, I'm being a little dramatic, but still.

Anyway, I remembered that I had purchased Nad's Facial Strips around the time of my wedding just in case I got brave and wanted to wax anything. Well, that didn't happen and I had never used this product before.
via

Softer fabric, hypoallergenic, for delicate areas...everything sounded great! So, I tired one strip on my chin. I followed the directions, and before I knew it I had removed the hair off of my chin. It only hurt for a moment and my chin was a little red, but I was hairless! Woo hooo!

Then I started looking closer.

And I realized that I ripped hair and skin off. Here is what I looked like yesterday at work.

Ohhhhhh how I wish I would've had a cool story like "I rescued an infant from danger and hit my chin" or even "I accidentally fell down the stairs." But no. I had to explain how I was waxing my chin. Not. cool.

This burn is incredibly painful and itchy. :o( Needless to say, I will never use Nad's again. More importantly, I will never wax a body part again. I'm sure the fuzz on my chin will grow back, but at this point I do not care. It is blonde and short and normal, right? Right.

This weekend, Keith, my chin, and I are heading to Atlanta for a law school forum. I doubt that law school reps will care, but I certainly hope they don't ask what happened to my chin...because if they do I may just have to go with that whole baby in danger story. :o)

*PS: Thanks for all of the support I received after writing about my unspoken problems. These unspokens are getting better, and I have faith that everything will work out for the best. I really appreciate all of the feedback and I am thankful for all of your prayers and kindness. You guys are amazing.
